2020 Library Friends annual report

The Friends of the Belgrade Public Library found 2020 to be a difficult year to earn the money needed to maintain the library. As many of you know, we hold several fundraisers from March to July to maintain the library building and grounds. As the severity of the pandemic became apparent, we were concerned as to how we would meet our financial goal for 2020. Fortunately, a grant from the CARES Act through the Maine Cultural Organization helped cover some of our expenses. We were able to hold our annual Fourth of July book sale outside on the lawn of the library, adhering to all CDC guidelines. Later in July, we managed to conduct our annual yard sale, again using safe practices.

We look forward in 2021 to returning to our regular meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at the library, when it is safe to do so, and holding our regular fundraising events. At this time, no dates have been set. We are always looking for volunteers to join our meetings and to help with our events. We appreciate all the help we received with our book sale and yard sale in July. It is always a great deal of work, but rewarding and fun.

Donations to help with operating and maintaining the library are tax-deductible and always gratefully accepted. Checks may be made out to the Friends of the Belgrade Public Library (FOBL), P.O. Box 474, Belgrade, ME 04917.
