The Planning Board's primary responsibility is to review and consider applications as they relate to building, renovating or planning to build in areas where the following ordinances govern: Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, Commercial Development Review Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance, Manufactured Home and Mobile Home Park Ordinance, Minimum Lot Size Ordinance, and Multi-Family Dwelling Ordinance. The Planning Board also provides substantive updates to ordinances, conducted over time and usually in consultation with planning professionals, to bring the documents up to date.
The Planning Board does all of this with an eye toward integrating the needs of the town and within the goals of the Comprehensive Plan.
The Board consists of five members with staggered three-year terms and up to two alternate with indefinite lengths of terms. For those interested in serving on the committee, click the application link to the left.
Derosier resigns from Planning Board; Town seeks replacement
After more than a decade of faithfu service, Roger Derosier has regrettably resigned from the Planning Board. Those of us who worked with Roger will miss his wise counsel and his unwavering commitment to evenly applying ordinances to applications.
The Planning Board now seeks a replacement willing to fill the remainder of his term, which expires in 2022. The Board meets the first and third Thursday evenings of the month, reviewing applications, as noted above. To access an application, click here.
