2022 Communications Committee annual report

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee produces three newsletters a year that are mailed to all households in Belgrade, as well as posted online on the town’s website. This is a team effort by the committee, town of Belgrade staff, and members of the various town committees. Chair of the selectboard and Communications Committee member Melanie Jewell provides a summary of selectboard discussions and actions. Other important information is published such as updates to recycling, burn permits, and voting and election information. Reports from other town committees are also featured in the newsletter.

The Committee encourages residents to visit the Town website where additional information is regularly updated about town events and meetings. The website also contains newsletter archives, and archived agendas and minutes from the select board meetings, planning board meetings, as well as other town committees. You can also find information about elections and voting, permits, licenses, library events, and recreational activities in the town.

The Communications Committee holds candidate forums for Belgrade municipal elections such as the select board, and the RSU #18 School Board, and for state senate and house races. This past fall we resumed holding the forums in person, as well as broadcasting them live on Zoom and Facebook, and posting them to the town’s website for viewing after the forums. We served refreshments after the forum, which encouraged voters and candidates to linger a little longer and socialize with one another.

Respectfully Submitted.

Regina Coppens, Chair; Brian Beaupain, Melanie Jewell, Maureen Millikin, and Patty Vonlderstine
