The Town's Communications Committee will host a forum for the candidates seeking election to the Board of Selectpersons and to the RSU 18 School Board at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16. The forum will be conducted via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82694947351. It will be posted afterward at townofbelgrade.com/communityconversations, and on the Town's YouTube and Facebook pages. The forum will be moderated by Jay Bradshaw, Belgrade's longtime town meeting moderator. 

Three candidates are vying for two seats on the Board of Selectpersons: Nicholas Alexander, Rick Damren and Melanie Jewell. The two candidates with the most votes will be elected to three-year terms. 

Five candidates are seeking election to one of Belgrade's two seats on the RSU 18 School Board: Stacey Dowling, Sharon Frost, Penny Morrell, James Smith and Brian Wedge. To win election to the seat's three-year term, a candidate must earn a majority of the vote. 

Absentee voting begins Feb. 18. Ballots, which will include the Town's warrant articles, will be available at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. To request a ballot by mail, call 207-495-2258. The Town Office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays, except Thursdays, when it is open until 7 p.m.
