Full-time residents of Belgrade vote on Town affairs and for Town officers annually at the Town Meeting. Normally, that is a two-day affair that involves secret-ballot voting that occurs on the first day, and floor discussions and votes on the second day. However, in 2022, Town Meeting will consist of a secred-ballot referendum only. That election will be from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Center for All Seasons, 1 Center Drive along Route 27 in the village.

Absentee ballots are available through 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 15. Ballots may be retrieved from the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The office is open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and until 7 p.m. Thursdays. Ballots may also be requested by calling 207-495-2258. Ballots may be filled out in the office or returned to the Town Office by 8 p.m. March 19. A secure ballot dropbox is located on the north side of the building under the portico (turn left at the flagpole).

Among the warrant articles on the ballot are municipal department budgets and updates to the Town's Subdivision Ordinance, the Commercial Development Review Ordinance's Section 15.B titled Impact on Lake Water Quality, the Board of Appeals Ordinance, and the Cemetery Ordinance. The complete Town Meeting warrant is posted below.

The annual town report that includes all of the measures voters will consider is posted here. The report also contains explanations of budget requests. Printed copies are mailed to all Belgrade taxpayers prior to Town Meeting. Copies are also available at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The report also includes submissions by each Town government department, the Board of Selectpersons and many Town committees, along with the annual financial audit.

Questions about the warrant and the report can be directed to Town Manager Anthony Wilson at townmanager@townofbelgrade.com or 207-495-2258.

Also in the election, three candidates are vying for two seats on the Board of Selectpersons: Nicholas Alexander, Rick Damren and Melanie Jewell. The two candidates with the most votes will be elected to three-year terms. Five candidates are seeking election to one of Belgrade's two seats on the RSU 18 School Board: Stacey Dowling, Sharon Frost, Penny Morrell, James Smith and Brian Wedge. To win election to the seat's three-year term, a candidate must earn a majority of the vote.

Candidate profiles can be found in the latest edition of the Town's newsletter, the Belgrade Bulletin. The video of a candidates forum is posted at https://youtu.be/PIYUxWx1mDc.
