The Planning Board will consider a date for an informational meeting at which the public can offer input on a proposed rewrite of the Town's subdivision ordinance when the board meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The public may also participate online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83033101494. All Town board and committee meetings are open to the public.

Belgrade's Subdivision Ordinance was originally crafted in 1988. The rewrite is based on a state template and seeks to bring the Town's ordinance into compliance with state law, while addressing issues the Planning Board feel are specific to Belgrade. The document was drafted with the assistance of a professional planner with the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments.

The five-member Planning Board meets the first and third Thursdays each month at 6 p.m. at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The board’s primary responsibility is to review and consider applications as they relate to building, renovating or planning to build in areas where the Town’s ordinances govern. The Planning Board also provides substantive updates to ordinances, conducted over time and usually in consultation with planning professionals, to bring the documents up to date. The Planning Board does all of this with an eye toward integrating the needs of the town and within the goals of the Comprehensive Plan.
