The Planning Board will host an informational meeting on a proposed subdivision ordinance from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The public may also participate online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83033101494. The informational meeting will allow the public an opportunity to learn more about the ordinance, ask questions and offer input that the Planning Board may consider including in the final version.

Attached below is the proposed rewrite of Belgrade's Subdivision Ordinance, which was originally crafted in 1988. The rewrite is based on a state template and seeks to bring the Town's ordinance into compliance with state law, while addressing issues the Planning Board believes are specific to Belgrade. The document was drafted with the assistance of a professional planner with the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments. His executive summary of the ordinance is also attached.

The current ordinance can be found at this link

The Planning Board will consider anything it hears at the informational meeting during its Nov. 18 meeting. It will give the document final consideration Dec. 2. Afterward, the ordinance will be considered by the Selectboard and reviewed by the Town's attorney. Voters will consider the ordinance at the 2022 Town Meeting, scheduled for March 19. A public hearing on all Town Meeting referendum questions will be held no later than Feb. 17. Absentee ballots will be available beginning Feb. 18.

Also during the meeting, the board will discuss amending the Town's Commercial Development Review Ordinance to ensure the proper decommissioning of solar farms, wind turbines and telecommunications towers.

The full agenda and background packet are also posted below. All Town board and committee meetings are open to the public.
