Selectboard candidates forum

Event Date:
Wednesday, October 13, 2021 - 6:30pm

A Selectboard candidates forum will be conducted on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83081691080. The forum will also be streamed live on the Town's Facebook page. Afterward, the forum will be posted on the Town's website and on its YouTube and Facebook pages.

Voters in the Nov. 2 election will decide between two candidates -- Nicholas Alexander and Carol Johnson -- in filling a vacant seat on the Board of Selectpersons. The seat’s term expires in March 2024. A third candidate, Michael Barrett, withdrew after the ballots were printed. A note in the ballots explains votes for Barrett will not be counted.

Absentee voting is underway.

Voters may obtain an absentee ballot at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and until 7 p.m. Thursdays. Voters are welcome to fill out their ballots at the Town Office, or take them home and return them by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots may be returned by mail or by delivering them to the Town Office, either inside or in the ballot dropbox beneath the porch on the north side of the office. (Turn left at the flagpole.) Ballots may also be obtained by mail by calling the Town Office at 207-495-2258 or online at this link. Absentee ballots will be available through Oct. 28.

A separate state ballot in the Nov. 2 election includes three issues: a citizen initiative banning the CMP corridor project, a $100 million bond for transportation infrastructure, and a constitutional amendment declaring a right to produce, harvest and consume food.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Center for All Seasons, 1 Center Drive in the village along Route 27. Belgrade residents may register to vote at the Town Office in advance of the election or at the Center for All Seasons on Election Day.
