ARPA Public Meeting @CFAS 10am

Event Date:
Tuesday, June 14, 2022 - 10:00am to 11:00am

The town wants input from residents on how it should spend the $332,584 in federal funding it will receive  through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The decision on how to spend the money must be approved by voters no later than Dec. 31, 2024. Federal rules require the mon-ey be spent by Dec. 31, 2026. ARPA money may be spent on any government service. Some ideas the Select Board has discussed:

•    Paying for town costs associated with a public water system to remedy salt contamination in wells around the Town Of-fice.
•    Relocating the sand/salt shed from the contaminated area.
•    Reducing the financing to build a new central fire station.
•    Controlling drainage and erosion on town property.
•    Installing Wi-Fi hotspots.
•    Buying technology to enhance online participation in public meetings.

Town residents will have additional ideas about how the money should be used. The Select Board has scheduled four public meet-ings to solicit those ideas:

10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, Center for All Seasons.
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, Town Office.
6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, North Belgrade Comm. Center.    6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, Town Office.
