The five-member Planning Board will consider approval of its subdivision ordinance rewrite and will discuss the decommissioning of solar arrays, wind turbines and cell towers when it meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Town Office, 990 Augusta Road. The public may also participate online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83033101494. All Town board and committee meetings are open to the public. The full agenda and background packet are posted below.

The Planning Board has been working more than a year to rewrite the subdivision ordinance, which voters approved in 1988. The current ordinance no longer complies with state law. A moratorium on new subdivision permits is in effect until the community can pass a new ordinance. If the Planning Board approves the proposed rewrite, the Board of Selectpersons on Dec. 7 will consider placing the ordinance on the Town Meeting ballot in March.

A moratorium is also in effect so the Planning Board can amend the commercial development review ordinance as it relates to solar and wind energy facilities, and telecommunications towers. Thursday's discussion will focus on decommissioning standards for infrastructure that is no longer commercially viable.
