Brown Tail Moths, an invasive and destructive species, have been spotted on the West Road in Belgrade. While in caterpillar form they feed on the foliage of hardwoods, causing major damage to trees and shrubs. These caterpillars also pose a health risk to humans due to contact with their poisonous hairs. Contact with these hairs can cause a rash similar to poison ivy, and inhaling the hairs can cause respiratory distress in some cases.
