Out of concern for the health, safety and welfare of Belgrade residents, the Belgrade Public Library will be closed to the public until further notice.
Staff will be available for consultations by phone at 207-495-3508 and by email at Belgrade@belgrade.lib.me.us to help patrons navigate online resources. Wi-Fi access will continue to be available in the parking lot of the library, 124 Depot Road.
As with the Town Office and recreation center, the library is closed for an indeterminate period of time. As the Covid-19 situation unfolds, we will continue to evaluate when we might be able to reopen the facility.
The Library and Neighbors Driving Neighbors will facilitate the connection between residents wishing to check out materials and volunteers willing to deliver them. Residents can call or email the library with a request. The materials along with the requestor’s name and address will be forwarded to a volunteer for delivery. If the requestor has no library card, the volunteer will also deliver an application for the new cardholder to fill out at that time.
Materials may be returned in the library’s dropbox.
A limited number of iPads are also available for delivery.
Patrons will also still have access to online services, including:
E-books and audiobooks
Digital Maine Library
Those links can be accessed on the Town’s website at townofbelgrade.com/onlineresources. Library staff will be available by phone to walk patrons through the process of downloading digital books.
Should patrons have a pressing need for certain information or services the Belgrade Public Library can’t provide, the Maine State Library has a large menu of online services free to all Maine residents.
Patrons with books and items currently checked out will not be penalized for any overdue charges that may occur as a result of the shutdown.
Any questions regarding library services may be directed to Belgrade@belgrade.lib.me.us.
