Senior Resources Committee

The Board of Selectpersons formally created the standing Senior Resources Committee in August 2021. The committee's purpose is to review and make recommendations regarding existing services, programs, etc. available to Belgrade’s seniors. These recommendations are focused on helping seniors obtain better access to services and infrastructures so they may live safely and with dignity as they age.

The committee will also identify the need for and advocate for additional services and programs that would support and promote the financial and social independence of Belgrade seniors. The SRC will explore volunteer and grant opportunities, corporate partnerships, and request additional funding to implement and sustain recommended programs. Develop a comprehensive strategy for communicating to our seniors the programs and resources available to them. Identify gaps between needs and available services, and determine partnerships and options that could meet these needs.

The mission of the Senior Resources Committee is to recognize current initiatives in Belgrade that make the town age-friendly and to identify gaps/needs in service or available resources that hinder the age-friendliness of Belgrade. The group seeks to accomplish this using the World Health Organization’s eight domains of livability, develop an actionable, strategic Age-Friendly Action Plan recommending projects and/or practices and creating metrics to monitor progress toward planned goals.
